need computer training to get new job. Have been homemaker for past 5 years. My husband has terminal cancer, and while I can't work now, need to prepare for future.

The ever prodigious Philip Greenspun has put his money where his mouth is in creating ArsDigita University. Beginning in September 2000, 30 select students will be enrolled in a post-baccalaureate Computer Science program. In 1 year, 12 hours a day, 6 days a week they will cover what most Computer Science students cover in 4 years. Don't worry if you aren't from the select 30 or can't take a year off studying in Cambridge, Massachusetts, ADU expects to have a reasonable facility for distance learners set up which anyone can join.
