i3Connect.net proposes a Next Generation Open Internet Directory Project to build a virtual distributed database infrastructure where owners of the information create and control the information. The idea of the project is to build an open data platform for a new breed of service providers to build Next Generation services that exploit the power of the network, especially the peer-to-peer capability. In the spirit of Gnutella, which enables peer-to-peer sharing of music and other files, this directory allows information and services to be shared directly at a peer-to-peer level and accessed by humans, automated agents, Service Providers, etc. This directory enables the power of the network to be exploited by the nodes in the network instead of concentrating the power with in a few hubs.
